A new legal filing claims to contain proof that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and special prosecutor Nathan Wade, whom she appointed to oversee her case against former President Donald Trump, are engaged in a romantic relationship. Containing financial statements showing he purchased plane tickets for Willis, the filing was made by the special prosecutor’s estranged wife, Jocelyn Wade, in response to Willis’ filing, which claimed she was attempting to “embarrass” and “harass” her by including Willis in the divorce proceedings.
The filing in the divorce case reveals he was previously held in contempt of court for refusing to comply with discovery obligations in the case, despite himself initiating the divorce. When Nathan Wade eventually supplied “a portion of his outstanding required discovery responses” on December 22, 2023, his estranged wife’s legal team received “credit card statements which demonstrated that [Wade] had paid for and taken trips unrelated to his work with the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office.”
These trips, according to the filing and credit card statements, include travel to San Francisco, Napa Valley, Florida, Caribbean cruises, and trips to Belize, Panama, and Australia.
“The evidence is clear that Ms. Willis was an intended travel partner for at least some of these trips as indicated by flights he purchased for her to accompany him,” the filing alleges.
The filing by Jocelyn Wade was submitted to the court after Willis submitted her own alleging that a subpoena demanding Willis be deposed in the divorce proceedings was an attempt to “embarrass” and “harass” the district attorney. However, the filing by Jocelyn Wade insists Willis’ deposition is necessary to “determine details surrounding her romantic affair” with Nathan Wade. It adds, “there appears to be no reasonable explanation for their travels apart from a romantic relationship.”
According to the filing, Jocelyn Wade is “not utilizing the deposition to harass [Willis] but rather to seek pertinent information from her husband’s paramour” regarding their relationship and “the extent” of Nathan Wade’s financial involvement in the relationship.
Financial statements purportedly from Nathan Wade’s Capital One Spark Business account under his own name are included in the filing.
In one statement reflecting the activity in Nathan Wade’s account between April 18 and May 18 of 2023, the financial document discloses that Nathan Wade spent $817.80 each for two plane tickets, one in his name, and one assigned to Willis.
The transaction date listed for the plane tickets is April 25, and a series of travel-related expenses appears to begin on May 12, 2023, when Nathan Wade used his credit card for Uber. He used Uber four more times, including on May 14, 2023, when two charges were made at “Doubletree Napa Valley” for $228.04 and $612.18.
Nathan Wade’s Capital One statement covering December 19, 2022, through January 18, 2023, shows the special prosecutor paid for Uber rides and that he paid $214.80 to Norwegian Cruise Line and bought an airline ticket. A third financial statement from October and November of 2022 includes a $370.88 expense at “Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort” and a $3,172.20 expense to Norwegian Cruise Line.
A fourth statement includes more high dollar expenses, including two expenses for $1,387.70 and $1,284.85 purchases from Royal Caribbean Cruise, three American Airlines tickets for Nathan Wade, Willis, and Clara Bowman, which each cost more than $400, three more airline tickets for Nathan Wade and Willis that each cost $61.24, and a $3,835.26 charge to “Vacation Express.”
The revelation that Willis is allegedly romantically entangled with Wade surfaced earlier this month when one of the defendants in Willis’ case against Trump claimed to have evidence of the affair. He additionally requested that the charges against him be dropped and that Willis be barred from prosecuting the case against Trump.
A criminal referral and a complaint with the Georgia State Bar have been filed against Willis. Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee demanded she respond to Roman’s claims in court documents by February 2 and appear in court to discuss them on February 15.
